It is said to have been effective in controlling diseases like epilepsy and cancer. It’s a useful process burning excessive fats in the body while supplying energy and helping it to remain stable even when you are not consuming food. The main is to get the body into a state of “ketosis” where it uses fats for energy rather than carbohydrates. The process is used to control seizures in epileptic adults and children.

Fats don’t have any effect on blood sugar, but, proteins do if taken in large quantities. 56% of excess proteins are converted into glucose and the rest into insulin. It takes some getting used to this diet, but is not as expensive as people think. In fact, it can be cheaper than some normal diets. It uses every drop of water in the body so it’s advisable to keep your body hydrated with water.
The downside is that it doesn’t contain fruit or vitamins, which some people believe are effective for disease prevention. Many doctors have little knowledge about how the body reacts to this diet and advise that taking in high volumes of fat can result in conditions like hypertension, as fat is not digestible and blocks blood vessels. But, when fat is taken with low energy foods, it is used as the main source of energy for the body. Some weight conscious people may avoid this diet due to weight gain risks.
